ABOUT

Matt is an award-winning fine art photographer from Vincennes, Indiana; with encouragement from the Indiana Arts Commission and ISBDC, he founded OptiViz.Media in 2021 to bring his skills and cutting edge equipment to bear elevating the status of small brands in their struggle for visibility against corporate commerce.

How big is the team?

Hey, it's me: Matt!  In 2024, 80% of my clients enjoyed streamlined creativity and an efficient budget by working with me as a solo producer, meaning they conceived their project with me, I showed up with the necessary equipment, personally executed filming, and then edited the footage.

However, for larger projects, I call on a network of creative professionals as required, and I've built and managed teams as large as six to deliver big visions on tight deadlines.

What services do you provide?

I'm a multi-disciplary digital creator, with formal education in English literature and music, and a fine arts photography practice of over twenty years, and while I primarily draw from this skillset to develop and produce concept-to-screen commercial video productions, I also sometimes provide some specific service in digital disciplines.  If you're looking for a certain thing (like event camerawork or script writing), I probably have an on-request portfolio page already prepared for you to look at.  Just ask!

The most frequently requested services I don't perform are:  social media management, marketing management or consulting, web site design, and legacy media relations (PR), though I do often create media for agents who specialize in those fields, and would be happy to refer one.

My case studies also summarize ways I've been engaged creatively.

And these were my ten most-invoiced services in 2024:

  1. On-Site Video Production

  2. Video Editing

  3. Creative Direction

  4. Creative Consultation

  5. Motion Graphics

  6. Stills Photography

  7. Copywriting

  8. Aerial Videography

  9. Photo Retouching

  10. Graphic Design

How much does a video cost?

Project budgets are determined by a lot of factors, with major drivers being the number of days of equipment use, and the run-time of the edited project.  I've delivered edited videos on budgets as low as $1800, but on average I produce a 90-to-180-second video for $3500, and my most cost-effective offerings are weekly and monthly engagement rates, which are set at $3,500 and $13,200 respectively.  (These special rates require at least 60 days advance booking.)

You'll approve a formal, itemized proposal and invoice before booking, with clearly outlined terms and costs.  Speaking of that...

What's the process?

I work in a consistent, professional process, developed to complement organizational best-practices.  When I'm confident I have a concept to meet your need, I'll issue a proposal, we'll negotiate an agreement on its content, and I'll invoice for the full project budget.  Half of the invoice is due immediately to secure your booking (and dates remain available to all interested parties until a party secures it by making a payment), and the other half will be due 30 days after I deliver your project for revision requests.

The proposal will contain a schedule of deadlines for the completed project, and for parts of the project you may request to approve on the way, like scripts, colors, music selection, and graphics.  Like everything in the proposal, you'll approve this schedule prior to booking and starting production.  "Production" is me working and communicating to deliver creative assets for your approval on that schedule of deadlines.

On or before the final delivery deadline, I'll deliver your project via a private Google Drive, with the final invoice dated 30 days, and initiate a 14-day courtesy revision period.  While in revision, you can request two rounds of changes, allowing 7 days for each round.  Remember:  the final invoice will come due about two weeks after the conclusion of courtesy revisions.

If you need more changes after courtesy revision, I'll submit a proposal for you to approve further work.

Process tips:  The most common cause for delivery delay is exceeding an approval deadline, and the most common causes of protracted revisions are late revision requests (outside the 14-day window) and requests for revisions to material that was previously approved.  A great planning practice for a succesful project execution is to involve everyone required in the process of approval, as much as their schedules will allow, and to use the proposal's timeline to ensure those people allocate the necessary time to review material and provide their input and approval.

What can we use a video for?

I've produced videos for broadcast TV commercials, music videos, "About Us" and product videos for corporate and e-commerce web sites, testimonial and team videos for vertical social media reels, and storytelling videos that garner awesome attention on LinkedIn.  I've also produced videos for YouTube and Video-on-Demand, for clients with a more specialized content strategy.  The delivery channels I think clients most overlook are Meta stories, and in-person presentation:  there's incredible value to adding video to your team's presentations and displays (think lobby, trade show, sales pitch, exhibition, corporate indroctrination, and anywhere else your team does mission-critical communication in-person).

That bears repeating:

Anywhere your message requires an accurate, concise, and emotionally engaging delivery, video communication is an invaluable technology I can put in yours and your team's arsenal.
